Acer designed Aspire One 521 to become a powerful netbook. It is different from other usual Aspire Ones as we see in the market.

Aspire One 521 built with gaming capability for a small laptop, because it has ATI Radeon graphic driver for sharper and faster image movement, especially when playing games.

Overall, I would recommend Aspire One 521 if you are novice laptop user who sometimes prefers to play games other than doing heavy office works with it. If most netbooks are installed with Intel Atom for usual computing, Aspire One 521 is basically designed for netbook gaming, a feature most netbooks are not equipped with.

For faster speed, you can install additional RAM slot in the backside of this laptop. Buy 2 2G RAM sticks, put it in the slot, then test it by playing games, a simple one almost close to 3D games. You will amazed how fast (and how clear the view) this small laptop will be.

Acer laptops - new Acer Timeline X

Acer upgraded their Timeline brand into the new Timeline X laptop series. The new series come with new Intel Core processors you can choose from suits your personal budget - Intel Core i3, i5 and i7. The operating system will be Windows 7 Home Premium, which I say downgradeable into Windows Xp service pack 3 or Windows Vista Home Premium.

Acer said the new Timeline X designed to has lighter, faster, sharper display, longer battery life. One of my dream laptop is an Acer Aspire Timeline.

I love its thickness, its lightness and its powerful computing engine. I fonly google Chrome was being released by now, I will install my Acer Timeline laptop with it, so no virus will harm my data.

Among Dell Adamo XPS, Apple Macbook Air or Acer Timeline X, I will choose Acer Timeline X because Acer's internal spare part for their laptops is widely available here in Malaysia. The service cost is a lot cheaper than the other laptop models made by other companies such as Dell, Hp, Sony, Toshiba, Nokia or Lenovo.

Timeline X price will be 1,900 Malaysian Ringgit and above, aimed for business users, professional workers, advanced user who prefers tri-combination of speed, style and lightness.

Several days ago I've reported a news that Toshiba is planning on releasing new kind of laptop with weird feature, a dual screen tablet laptop (just like opening a book) with virtual keyboard available on the screen. Its like using a double iPad in front of your eyes. No touchpad needed for your mouse pointer.

The name for the new tablet laptop is Toshiba Libretto W100, powered up by Intel Pentium U5400 processor, installed with Windows 7 Home Premium OS (*sorry, no Google Android OS this time!), 2GB of onboard DDR3 memory (cant be upgraded to the higher version), 64Gb solid state drive (SSD) hard disc, one USB 2.0 port.

After inspecting its specs, I would say this laptop is suitable for a user who spents a lo of time on the internet, a user who prefers wireless internet, a user with minimal computing skills, not an IT pro.

Libretto W100 has a unique feature and a great, smooth look but I was upset with its hardware specification. I thought Libretto W100 will comes with Intel Atom processor, or at least Core processors according to its high tech features, which I think it will be a fast laptop. If you dont want to own an iPad, Toshiba Libretto W100 is a good choice, for personal entertainment right from the comfort of your home.

At least it bears a new name, not like 'LePad' by Lenovo that copies official name of iPad made by Apple. No news for Libretto W100's battery, I wonder how long it will lasts. 7 hours maybe?

USB pen drive - Lexar 128GB thumb drive for laptop users

The price for Lexar 128Gb thumb drive ( a thumb drive is also called as pen drive here in Malaysia) is $350 US Dollar (equals to RM1,225.00 Malaysian Ringgit). The price for me is really worth because this USB thumb drive has huge storage capacity (for a small sized thumb drive). Its capacity is almost similar to a hard disc storage capacity installed inside a netbook (small sized laptops). I dont think this one as waterproof thumb drive. Kingston's also has 128GB thumb drive of their own.

You can use Lexar 128Gb thumb drive as a personal backup for your important data, as temporary storage for your favorite movies or as permanent 'keeper' for your personal pictures. Recommended for tech professionals, programmers, advanced laptop users.

Genius Micro Traveller 900S wireless laptop mouse for long distance usage

For a laptop user who prefers highly mobile wireless mouse and can be used 10 meters away from its receiver, Genius Micro Traveller 900S is the solution. Wireless mouse usually comes with its own USB receiver dogle that transmit mouse movements onto the pointer pointer as seen on screen, even the future mouse has this feature.

However, Genius doesnt states how long the battery will lasts, I dont think its availabe in Malaysia right now (at the time of writing). This wireless mouse compatibles with all kind of laptops, Macs included, even Apple sells their own multi-touch wireless optical mouse called Magic Mouse. At least, this optical mouse stills comes in its traditional square shape, not in a design of Lamborghini sport car.

LePad is Lenovo version of iPad

Sounds like crazy, but its been done already by Lenovo. Lenovo uses LePad (Lenove + iPad combination) as name for their new tablet laptop, a touch-screen enabled as iPad look alike. Chinese made merchandises has a copy for everything, including the new releases iPad. I dont know what Apple's reaction after hearing this. Will Apple sues Lenovo? My answer, the probability is yes.

iPad starts 2nd evolution in personal computing

Turning back to the history of the computers, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak are two geeks who started personal computer. They introduced Macintosh computer, a smaller one comes with colorful user interface - called UI for short. Then Windows copied that kind of UI, makes their own UI, starts producing Windows 95, WIndows 98 and later Windows 7, like we see right now.

iPad starts a new revoultion again in personal computing by introducing beautiful, user friendly, light laptop. I predict big laptop makers will focus on producing tablet laptops under their brand name to catch smaller sagment of 'tablet laptop lovers' which can bring is lot of money for their business. Who know, maybe someday Acer has their own tablet laptop similar to the iPad, a lot cheaper.

Acer laptops is more personal than Dell

I was more to Acer laptops, even i love to use Dell laptops as well. I love Dell because of its dominant name, good functions and hardware strength, I mean Dell do provides technologies ot please up laptop users like me.

But I love Acer more than Dell because I feel like Acer understands me a lot. Dell laptops is more to business oriented, while Acer laptops is more to personal oriented. That's the way I feel about Acer laptops.

AMD Ontario the new processor for netbook, new competitor for Intel Atom

AMD introduces their new processor chip Ontario, after introduced another new chip called Fusion. Ontario chips aimed for netbooks, I guess AMD uses Ontario chips to get ahead of their closest rival, the Atom processor (uses mainly for netbooks) made by Intel.

AMD Ontario will be released for public in last 4 months of year 2010. Netbook makers such as Acer, Hp, Dell, Lenovo or Sony will able to use AMD Ontario new chip in their netbok models starting from early 2011.

The attack causes their computers to sent out company's internaol business data to another computer via internet connection automatically, this risik is the data leak may cause huge loss to Siemens. The virus attack should not be taken lightly.

The new Toshiba Libretto W100 laptop has an internal sensitive sensor which detects screen movements, either you placed it horizontall or vertically. Digi Broadband is fast!

I'm using Digi Broadband service to get online. Its a prepiad internet account. Early 2010, I bought an USB Modem, a CSL model. Then I bought a long one Digi Prepaid Internet sim card (special edition), activated it later in the same day. Thanks to Digi, my internet connection turned to be better day by day. No more Streamyx problem!.

Acer is the top computer seller but second in US market

Acer is now the top computer seller in Africa, Middle East, Europe. Acer also is the top computer seller in Malaysia and other South East Asia countries. Dell and Hp are two main rivals for Acer as the top laptop seller in the world. When we look into US market, Acer gained second place behind Dell while Hp gets third. New Medion netbbooks - Medion Akoya E6215 with 500GB hard disc capacity

Sorry, this is not new Acer netbook but a new netbook under a small laptop maker. Akoya E6215 made by Medion, which equipped this new netbook with Intel Core i3 mobile processors, amazingly provides 500GB for hard disc storage capacity.

The usual HDD capacity for normal netbook are in 160GB but Medion Akoya E6215 provides larger capacity, I bet in double amount. Acer laptops - new eMachine EM350 netbook with Windows Xp

eMachine is a new brand name in netbook market, actually eMachine is a subsidiary of Acer (2nd largest computer maker in the world). eMachine introduced their new netbook code named eMachine EM350.

The netbook installed with Windows XP operating system, which in my experience operates faster compared to Windows 7 starter edition when in a netbook. The processor for eMachine EM350 netbook is Intel Atom N450, comes together with Wifi driver (802.11b/g/n WiFi) surely added with Acer's SignalUp technology, USB ports for external plug and play devices, 10 inch dipslay screen, 1GB RAM.

The hardware specification is much alike with Acer Aspire One's hardware, upgradeable by eMachine EM350 user as an option. My respon, anything comes out from eMachine is a lot cheaper than Aspire laptops, giving huge advantage for any laptop buyer with small budget but with big hunger to get connected into the internet.

I dont know what reason pushes Acer to produce a new netbook under eMachine brand while Acer already gained strong market hold and user trust via Acer Aspire One laptops. If compare to Dell Inspiron Mini 10 or Samsung NC10, Aspire One netbook is much popular here in Malaysia, with eMachine EM350 netbook, Acer tries to dig deeper.

Unbelieveable, Samsung's netbook gained popularity during past 9 months due to user's loyalty and trust in their past product, I bet, making Samsung as popular netbook producers alongside big names such as Acer, Dell, Apple and Hp.

The sales statistic for Samsung laptops (netbooks and noteboks combined) keep increasing, means there is a good demand for Samsung products in personal computing market, especially in netbooks.

Intel focusing inside tablet laptops

Intel, the most famous processor chip manufacturer on the planet is now focusing on tablet laptops, maybe to get ahead from its closest competitor, AMD. After Apple iPad released to public, tablet laptops becomes hugely popular because of its sensitive touch screen, colorful display screen with minimal no need of a keyboard.

Intel sees that the demand for tablet laptop will increase in the future, thus enable Intel to gain more profit from there by selling new kind of processor designed espeacially for tablet laptops. Other than AMD, Intel will have to compete with Apple computers in gaining market attention for tablet laptops. Apple designed, create and manufacture their own processors for iPad.

Acer new tablet laptops

Acer willintroduce two new tablet laptops before the end of 2010, not a convertible netbook laptop as seen in the image below.

Those two new tablet laptops are sized at 7 inch and 10 inch display each respectively, installed with multimedia features, internet connectivity, with sensitive touch screen as seen in Apple iPad and Dell Streak.

Acer uses Google Android OS (operating system) to power up those two tablet laptops, hence reduces the price to lower level, cheaper than usual tablet laptops. Actually, I love Acer more than Dell, but in the same time I was crazy for iPad!

Oprah Magazine iPad version

Oprah has her own magazine, titled O Magazine, bringing her name as the magazine's brand. Now the magazine has its iPad application, called the "O iPad" developed by Hearst Magazine, available for iPad users. From the positive perspective, I think the development of O iPad will enable the magazine itself captres more readers, thus adding more features to iPad fans. I hope soon the Berita Harian (one of the famous Malaysian news) has its own iPad application too (and hopefully it is free!)

I bet this specification make is simmilar to other netbooks sold in Malaysia, only separated byt its multitouch display screen. No, this one doesnt uses Windows XP, it was installed with Windows 7 starter pack, I suppose.

Quanta Computers get $97 millions selling laptops

Quanta Computers, the biggest laptop maker (by contract) gained profit of $97 millions on April 2010 after successfully shipped 4.5 million notebook computers in the same month. The record is the highest, beating well known laptop makers such as Acer, Dell, HP, Sony.
