Toshiba is well known in Malaysia for its netbook laptop (which has power-on button in the middle section of the netbook while other netbook brand has power-on button located at the left of right side). Toshiba introduced their new tablet laptop named as Toshiba Thrive, installed with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, the same operating system installed in Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom and Acer Iconia A500. The new Toshiba Thrive's lowest price in Malaysia was RM1,287. The 32GB version of Toshiba Thrive priced at RM1,685.00. Yes, this new tablet laptop come in 3 different version of storage capacity just like the iPad 2 - the 8GB version, 16GB version and 32GB version. Each version of Toshiba Thrive sold separately at different price.

Toshiba laptops - Toshiba Libretto W100 dual screen laptop with virtual keyboard

Several days ago I've reported a news that Toshiba is planning on releasing new kind of laptop with weird feature, a dual screen tablet laptop (just like opening a book) with virtual keyboard available on the screen. Its like using a double iPad in front of your eyes. No touchpad needed for your mouse pointer.

The name for the new tablet laptop is Toshiba Libretto W100, powered up by Intel Pentium U5400 processor, installed with Windows 7 Home Premium OS (*sorry, no Google Android OS this time!), 2GB of onboard DDR3 memory (cant be upgraded to the higher version), 64Gb solid state drive (SSD) hard disc, one USB 2.0 port.

After inspecting its specs, I would say this laptop is suitable for a user who spents a lo of time on the internet, a user who prefers wireless internet, a user with minimal computing skills, not an IT pro.

Libretto W100 has a unique feature and a great, smooth look but I was upset with its hardware specification. I thought Libretto W100 will comes with Intel Atom processor, or at least Core processors according to its high tech features, which I think it will be a fast laptop. If you dont want to own an iPad, Toshiba Libretto W100 is a good choice, for personal entertainment right from the comfort of your home.

At least it bears a new name, not like 'LePad' by Lenovo that copies official name of iPad made by Apple. No news for Libretto W100's battery, I wonder how long it will lasts. 7 hours maybe?

The new Toshiba Libretto W100 laptop has an internal sensitive sensor which detects screen movements, either you placed it horizontall or vertically. If you placed the laptop horizontally, for example, the sensor will detects it and adjusts the screen automatically without any need to adjust it manually. That is the same technology availabe in iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4, where iPhone screen will adjust automatically to the phone's position.

The dual screen allows you to use Libretto W100 for multiple purpose all at once with its virtual on-screen keyboard technology, as seen in Apple iPad. You can watch YouTube video clips while updating your Facebook status, or even reading blogs. The screen is multi-touch sensitive.

Toshiba Satellite T135 installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS (you can imagine its power!), the processor is Intel Pentium SU4100 processor with processor speed at 1.3GHz 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB (not Intel Atom as expected). It has 4GB DDR3 RAM system memory, upgradeable to 8GB limit, a 13.3 inch screen with 1366x768 screen resolution lighted up with LED backlight. This netbook laptop was categorized as a CULV - Consumer Ultra Low Voltage mobile computing machine.

About the HDD storage capacity, Toshiba Satellite T135 has 320GB HDD with 5400RPM spindle speed, stereo speakers, its graphics powered by Intel Graphic Media Accelerator 4500 with shred graphic memory up to 1759MB (1.75GB), also come along is Bluetooh 2.1 with EDR, Realtek wireless driver for quick Wifi access, LAN port for broadband internet cables, 3 Highspeed USB 2.0 ports for quick connection with other digital device - mp3 players, mobile phone, PSP, mp3 player, camcorder, digital camera or mobile broaband modem such as Celcom Broadband..er, as long as it uses USB. That price still high for a 13" netbook!



The design at beautiful, available in Red, Black and White outer skin color. Toshiba Satellite T135 has glossy finish (vulnerable to easy scratches) one-touch power button with ergonomic fingering shape, full sized QWERTY keyboard, audio ports for earphone, external speakers, headphone and microphone, together with its own RGB external monitor output, HDMI ports, a 6-in-1 memory card slot.

If you want to buy its external optical drive to play/read/write DVD, CD or Blu-ray, Toshiba USB Portable DVD SuperMulti Drive ready to be by your side, only sold separately. But, if you think you dont need that optical driver yet, just ignore it. Go on with your computing jobs.

I was happy with Toshiba Satellite T135, its price is the only one thing I really arguing about. But, if compared logically, it suits the specification and the design very well - powerful spec and beautiful laptop body. Can be used to do office jobs, student assignments, light home entertainment, non-3D gaming, family web browsing (as a webbook), creative web designing. Not suggested for heavy gaming.

If I compare Toshiba Satellite T135 with Hp Pavillion, i can say its a good replacement, suitable choice for a middle-level budget, only lack its own internal optical driver.

Toshiba 1.8" (inch) HDD with shock absorber technology

The ending days for 2.8 laptop hard disc has come. Toshiba revealed their latest invention, a 1.8 inch thick hard disc drive that runs on 5400rpm spindle speed, has transfer rate of 830 megabytes persecond with 16MB of cache buffer, comes with storage capacity of 120/250/320GB. Small in size, big in power.

Toshiba latest laptops such as Qosmio gaming laptop has anti-shock technology, making Toshiba as the first tech company who invented such advanced technology in laptops. They bring the same tech into the body of this small HDD.

To be exact , the small hard disc has same size of credit card, resistant to vibrations, 5mm outer thickness, created based on dual-platter HDD design. It will be installed in Toshiba's netbook laptops.

What Toshiba do is more advanced than Apple's MacBook Air because the MacBook Air has only 128GB hard disc storage capacity in its SSD (Solid state drive) disc.

Toshiba launched web trade-in program for laptop user and they will buy any kind of laptops as long as it in good condition, according to news report from eWeek Europe. They say Toshiba will buy any kind of laptop for an exchange of buying Toshiba's new laptop. Here's how the trade-in program works.

Lets say i wanna trade-in my laptop. I go to Toshiba's selected trade-in website, put my price, negotiate with them, buy new Toshiba laptop and then wait for my old laptop to be collected by Toshiba's agent. All i have to do is just wait - wait for my old laptop to be taken, wait for my new laptop to arrive. Cool deal!

Toshiba laptops-latest Toshiba Mini NB205 netbook review

This version of latest Toshiba laptop were produced after first Toshiba's netbook laptop, the Toshiba Mini NB200 that i've reviewed before. Toshiba Mini NB205 comes with Windows 7 and its battery life can last for 9 hours long using light 6-cells battery. This is the first netbook laptop i've found installed with Windows 7, a starter edition of Windows 7 to be exact.

Toshiba Mini NB205 uses Intel Atom processor chip with 1.66Ghz processor speed, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, 250GB solid state drive hard disc with anti-shock technology. Most of its other hardware specification matches exactly with its older brother, the Toshiba Mini NB200.

Toshiba Mini NB205 has full QWERTY keyboard and 3 inch touchpad. Its touchpad button sits still at the bottom, not on the left and the right like certain model of netbook laptops that i've found such as Gigabyte Booktop.

There's only one digital speaker on this laptop, located at the front side whhile many other netbook laptop puts their speaker on the upper side of the keyboard, Toshiba Mini NB205 do otherwise. The sound effect may not be satisfactory for its user.

If you want to feel Windows 7 on a netbook, i suggest you to try out Toshiba Mini NB205. It has minimal OS feature compared to paid version of Windows 7 but it worth a try. You cant change wallpaper's image either unless you install full version of Windows 7 operating system.

I suggest you to use open source software in Toshiba Mini NB205 to make it runs faster, instead of Microsoft Live application software. Installing Windows 7 into any netbook laptops will make its overall performance go down.

Toshiba Mini NB205 takes more than 1 minute to load, while Toshiba Mini NB200 laptop takes less than 15 seconds to load. Looks like the big and new Windows 7 is a heavy burden for small netbook laptops.

If you own a netbook laptop, i dont suggest you to install Windows 7 into your netbook, just use the good old Windows Xp. Update its to service pack 3, you can change the Windows Xp theme into Windows Vista theme and vice-versa.

You can download third party software that installs Windows 7 theme in your laptop. Warning - the software will reduce laptop speed during startup unless you upgrade RAM amount.

To search for a best gaming laptop, you need to look at the graphic detail. Find what brand the graphic card is and how high is the capacity. Then, find an option if you can extend the graphic memory especially the total available memory. Toshiba Qosmio X300 has that option, its graphic driver can be extended to 1024MB DDR3 video RAM.

If the graphic memory is too low or at average level, the laptop will stuck, the games played will crash, the image will get pixellated with blur images on screen. Simply said, it will attract problems and troubles.

This is the first netbook from Toshiba. I call it a laptop in netbook class for you to easily categorize many varieties of laptops - notebook class, netbook class, nettop class and the latest is, booktop just like we see in Gigabyte Booktop.

Actually, Toshiba Japan released some netbook netbook modelswith Japanese letter keyboard before Mini Notebook NB200. For example, Toshiba DyanaBook SS that i'm using now. Its my old laptop, installed with Windows XP starter pack at the first time i bought it. I've upgraded the operating system since then. I will review Toshiba DynaBook later in another post.

For my final conclusion, Toshiba Mini Notebook Art NB200 is a good laptop in netbook class. Its a middle level performance laptop just like other similar netbook laptop.

Toshiba Mini Notebook Art NB200 created mostly for online activities, to be used by internet enthusiasits, web journalist and bloggers. Its small size enable you to be connected to the internet anywhere at anytime, the battrey last up to 7 hours too just like Acer Aspire One, Acer Ferrari One and other netbook class laptops.

This laptop is good, but not yet best. Its a middle level performance laptop, suits non-3d gaming very well. The 4GB RAM is high, means you will enjoy faster internet browsing and faster files transfer with multiple digital device such as your flash drive, smartphone, iPhone, mp3 player, camcorder or digital camera.

With RAM amount that high, you will not have a problem doing multi tasking job - listen to mp3 songs while surfing the internet, editing video at the same time or preparing office jobs.

If you want to use Toshiba Qosmio F50 for heavy gaming, i'm afraid the NVIDIA graphic card cant afford to carry the big burden unless you buy a gaming laptop instead, choose gaming laptops from Alienware brands for example. If you want best entertainment on a portable laptop, Toshiba Qosmio F50 is a best choice!

Toshiba laptops - Toshiba Portege T110 and Toshiba Portege T130

Toshiba introduced their new laptop in Portege series, code named as Portege T110 for user who love to use their laptop while on the run. This laptop installed with Windows 7 as the operating system, equipped with GMA 4500M graphics card to enable sharp image and crytal scren dispaly view without any unwanted stuck disturbance.

Other than that, Toshiba introduced additional new laptop, the Portege T130 that has same hardware specification with the Portege T110. The outer skin is glossy, give us a smooth, classy look.

What is the difference between Portege T110 and Portege T130?. Tohiba Portege T110 is a netbook, lot smaller in size - 11.6 inch laptop screen using WXGA display.

About the processor, Toshiba Portege T110 uses Intel Pentium SU2700 processor at 1.3GHz with RAM at 1GB. Meanwhile, the Portege T130 has 13.3 inch screen size, installed with Intel Core 2 Duo processor for fast performance, 500GB hard drive storage capacity.
