Last year i was using AVG antivirus as my main virus protection software. During 2007 and 2008, i use AVG 7.5 free edition.Although a new AVG8.0 is finally released, i didnt remove AVG7.5 from my laptop. I still use it and still updating new virus definition every day until February 2009.
At last i've remove AVG7.5 to try AVG8.0 antivirus. I've installed the free edition. But it was unsatisfactory because the antivirus software needs to updated regularly via the internet. The next morning i start my computer, AVG8.0 needs to be updated again. The AVG icon in the taskbar turns to black and gray. I could not shut down the automatic update or turn it to manual update.
Then i've made my mind. After doing some reading and asking some friends, i install Avast! Home Edition. I've known Avast antivirus since 2007 but i've never tried their antivirus software and i've never installed it in my laptop. I went to Avast! website and download the latest home edition. Its free.
The latest edition for Avast is Avast Home Edition 4.8. This is a useful software because it is light and dont have to require much memory while working in the background. It doesnt have be updated regularly, hourly or daily.
Avast Home Edition give you choice to update the antivirus manually or leave the software update on its own automatically. This is the feature i've been looking for! Finally the time comes when i can control the update schedule of my antivirus.
We recomend Avast! Home Edition antivirus for you if you're home computer user. You can also choose to use Avast Home Edition if you prefer less usage of computer memory and faster start up other than any antivirus software.
If someone ask me, which is the best, Norton antivirus or Avast antivirus? My answer, if you prefer faster speed and simple but powerful feature, i will choose Avast antivirus.
