Before offically released to the public as Firefox, Mozilla Firefox original name was Phoenix. Phoenix was the name of a fire bird in Chinese people. The bird flies with fire from its wings, head and tail. Before Phoenix, the browser was called by the name Mozilla Suite, back in the year of early 2003.
After Phoenix, the name was being changed into FireBird on May 17, 2003. Thus, the official name is Mozilla Firebird.
Starting from September 9, 2004 Mozilla Firebird was officially known as Mozilla Firefox. Looks like a bird changed into a fox. From Phoenix from Firefox, i mean.
Mozilla Firefox had 22.05% of the usage share of web browsers as of March 2009, making it becomes the second popular web browser after Internet Explorer 7 made by Microsoft.
