Go to http://mail.google.com. If you use Google as your homepage in the internet web browser, clik Gmail link in the upper left corner. There is links for Images, Google News, Google Groups and link for more Google services.
Open new Gmail by clicking 'create an account' button below the sign in form for Gmail users. When you open a Gmail account, you use your Gmail address as a Google ID. If you want to experience more Google services, sign in using your Google ID when using Google Search, Google Blogger, Google Images and many more!
Gmail is much simpler than any other free email provider such as Yahoo Mail. Gmail is less with annoying banner advertising. Instead, there is txt advertising. But, from my experience, those links are not just advertising, but a link to some helpful sites!.
