You have heard about Google Earth. Now comes Google Earth, a new application from Google with black, dark background. Currently, Google has released browser version of Google Sky. (click the image for larger view)
Google Sky is the new version (also available for free) as an alternative to people who dont want to download Google Earth software and installing it into their computer deu to low RAM amount.
More, you can view the sky in three different version, trough Spitzer infra red vewing version, Galex ultraviolet version and microwave version or known as Chandra X-Ray version. Google Sky allows you to browse around space, looking for planets and galaxies.
The backstory on the app is that it was done by staff engineers and Diego Gavinowich, from Buenos Aires, who was a finalist in Google's Latin America Code Jam and spent the past three months in an internship at the company. (source - offical Google Blog).
