If your Windows XP taskbar disappear, it maybe because of virus infection - mostly done by a spyware or Brontok virus. Other than making your taskbar disappear with unknown reason, it will make your Start button flased on and on again continuously, and when you move your mouse pointer to the Start button, it also disappear.
In normal cases, Windows Xp taskbar disappear only because of a change in Windows registry key - either by you accidentally changed it or another program changed it. Virus, spyware, malware and trojan key loggers do that in the background, in 1-2 seconds.
The best solution to this problem is to reinstall Windows and let it delete all data in your hard disk to eliminate any potential second infection.
